Horror film - public opinions
I put a basic questionnaire on Facebook and asked people I am friends with me to fill it and comment what they said. These were the responses I had.
Conclusion
In general, it appears males are more into horrors than females, however we would have to take a bigger sample. We have also discovered it is important to have an intriguing story line so that our movie attracts a wider audience, not just people who like to be thrilled and scared. It is also important to get the right amount of gore or action to make it interesting, yet also appealing to all audiences.
Survey
We also conducted a survey using the website fluidsurveys to find out the most popular sub-genre of horror. I shared the survey with my friends on facebook in the hope that we would get a large enough population to be able to draw a conclusion from. Our results show that paranormal horror films are the favourite of our sample, taking over a quarter of the votes. Many of the "other" were psychological, so it may be beneficial to somehow include parts of this sub-genre in our opening title sequence.
Using our research, we have decided to make a paranormal film as it is the most popular and our aim is to interest as large an audience as possible, as movies are made to make money and having a large audience would increase the likelihood of making a large sum of money.
